The site is back up — hooray!  It went down in the first place because of my deplorable habit of losing my credit cards every month or so, and then failing to update billing information.

Michael and I broke up today — we’d been dating for fourteen months.  Perfect 10 for the dismount, I think, insofar as that can be true: we were both on the same page, and it was a good end to a great relationship.

I liked Apple’s old commercials better — though I can’t imagine something like this airing now.

Get A Superiority Complex

7:33 pm on Friday, February 2nd, 2007

The Get A Mac ads from Apple have been getting pretty vitriolic of late.  This one in particular, called “Sabotage,” is just insulting.  In it, PC hires some deadbeat to pretend to be Mac in the ad, so that PC can score some points and claim that Macs are not getting more popular.  Initially, I liked the ads (especially Mac’s hair) but they’ve gotten increasingly personal, since PC and Mac are clearly meant to represent their users.  I don’t mind too much being stereotyped as neurotic and work-oriented, but insecure and desperate about Apple’s increasing market share?  Maybe Bill Gates is freaking out about Apple’s 5% but it shouldn’t affect my computer-buying decision.  I love my smart little IBM, and I pick my computers based on what I want, not what’s in.  I thought the Mac ads that focused on features and security were effective, but these just alienate me as a potential customer.  I’d like less of the superiority complex and more of the facts!
In other news: giant rabbits.  When Michael showed me these, I thought they were photoshopped fakes — and I still wish they were.  Those things could take over the world.
