I am so excited about this weekend. Spring Break, as noted earlier, was good but not at all relaxing. Now, though, I get to catch up on my backlog of reading and sleeping.
The Terri Schiavo case, I think, should not be as big a deal as it has been lately, being a private concern. Why are Congress and CNN involved? But to add my own two cents to the media frenzy, I think the husband’s decision should be respected, since it is based on her own wishes. However, it is a pity that the only way to end this is to remove the feeding tube. Euthanasia should be legal in specific circumstances such as these.
Well, fine, let’s start collecting pennies:
Isn’t it still acceptable in the United States to kill people with poison in the veins, supposedly, its the nicest way we can conceive of for taking another’s life.
Though I must concur with Anush(heh heh), starvation IS more interesting because of the agony factor.
But perhaps it’s putting others off, I heard on the radio today:
“Today is day 7 without food or water for Terri Schaivo, poor woman.” Goodness, they talk about her like she’s a person //still//. All I see her as is a 70,000 dollar a month shell. All what made her human is gone.
So, if starvation hurts to watch… it really isn’t the only way:
Stuff her veins with poison, and kill her like we kill other people whom we utillitarianistcly deem provide greater harm to society than benefit, who we believe are also incorrigible.
But this is so much easier than killing a living breathing cursing spitting criminal… What could be more hurtful to society than loss of capital (health insurance?), and what’s more irreparable than complete brain deadedness?

Geez, Bilal, why can’t you talk like a politician? I agree that she’s no longer conscious/a person, and so a lethal injection would be reasonable and humane, but let’s not “stuff her veins with poison” because she’s “hurtful to society”!
Because poloticians are old fashioned, stuffy, unhip, and definatly NOT down with the twisted extra smooth blend of lingo and “ayyo!” that only a select have perfected.
Not to mention the fact that they are all serpentine demon-eyed-and-tounged robots created by the Man to carry out his diabolical orders.
