Thinking about commercials lately — what works? Those “bounce” commercials for Diet Coke are pretty effective, i think, although not on me specifically because I can’t stand sodas. But they’ve got Adrien Brody in them, trying very hard to be hip in his plaintive Jewish way, and many pink bubbles, catchy music. The most effective commercials ever, I think, were for iPods. Those were aesthetic and fun. You almost couldn’t feel them stabbing the needle of consumerism into you. (I want an iPod.)
Hellish week on the verge of being over, yay. I think I shall pull out of policy debate to free up some space and sanity for myself.
wait… pull out of policy debate forever?
i wanted to stay in extemp (FX) and maybe LD, just because LD seems to attract arvinds and davids. i’ve been having this CX identity crisis for a while, ever since we lost on T-establish at Georgetown — i guess i didn’t mention it to you?
I can tell you what doesn’t work. This:
The guys I work with had a radio advertising camp pain (yes i spell it like that because i don’t know how)
and you know what they did?
DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY DID?!
They played a song that goes
“I love (product name)” repeatedly for 30 seconds
With no explanation about where to buy it from or ANYTHING!
The tellevision ad is doing better, with a one second flash of the webpage at the end.
And I sleep too! Midterm today, also photo, and paint, ooh, paint! Have a blessed october 22!
do LD. Now that the knowledge is completely useless to me, I believe david and I have discovered the key to winning every round.
of course, I might be a tad bit biased.
Buy an iPod, it will make you kewl.
Yes, kewl. Not cool, kewl.
ew, kewl
